Although not a regular, Duey has been associated with Lazy Does It as long as anyone. As a member of the group from Prospect Park United Methodist Church that was the seed of Lazy Does It (along with Len and Gordy), Duey qualifies as a charter member. It was Duey who coined the name of the group when it first performed at the Pratt Ice Cream Social, in the mid-90s.
After a much-too-long hiatus, due to work, summers at the cabin, and playing in several other bands, Duey joined us for a gig at the Minneapolis Veterans' Home, in November 2013. His many years of experience in traditional jazz served him (and us) well. In spite of stepping in at the last minute, he turned in a shining, highly animated performance, much to the delight of all present.
Duey reports that his work load in other groups is much reduced, these days, so we're hoping to get a lot more mileage out of him from now on.
Duey is a professor of philosophy at Hamline University in St. Paul.
