Ron James - trumpet sub
Ron filled in for us at Lauderdale's Day in the Park, August 16, 2014. Because our regular trumpeter had a family emergency, we had to call Ron in at the eleventh hour. A couple of us have worked with Ron in a group he leads, so we knew he was up to the task, but he exceeded our expectations. His technical mastery of the trumpet and many years of experience playing jazz were evident. We were playing outdoors, so Ron's exciting, blow-the-roof-off solos did no structural damage, but the crowd surely loved them. We are eager to have him join us again, soon.
Ron played all through his school years, then moved into a long career in education. He was a high-school band teacher for several years before switching to school administration, the profession from which he retired.
