Jason Swalley - tuba
Len first became acquainted with Jason in the summer of 2017 at a concert of the Roseville Big Band. That group performed a composition of Len's in which Jason improvised an impressive solo on the electric guitar. Len was unaware that Jason also plays tuba until he heard him playing with another local group, the Stone Arch Jazz Band. Len had a troublesome thumb and was unable to play bass sax at Lauderdale's 2017 "Day in the Park," so he hired Jason to cover the bass parts. We enjoyed both his playing and his personable demeanor immensely.
Jason started playing tuba in fifth grade, and it took. He majored in music at the University if Minnesota and studied with the Minnesota Orchestra's principal tubist, Ross Tolbert. Jason is married to Amy and has three musical offspring.
